Aspiring Central Regional Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Ing. Williams Asase, has reiterated an urgent call for the party to invest deliberately in the growth, welfare, and dignity of its grassroots base and aged stalwarts who remain the backbone of its electoral victories since the formation of the NDC.
According to him, the NDC must not relegate to the periphery those tireless foot soldiers whose resilience and sacrifice propelled the party to power. He warned that continued neglect erodes the very foundation of the party’s strength.
“The grassroots will deploy every human effort imaginable to bring the party to power, yet they are regrettably abandoned once that power is attained,” he asserted.
Ing. Asase further lamented that individuals who mobilized support for Members of Parliament, Ministers, Chief Executives, and MMDCEs now confront indifference from those same leaders.
“Some of these big men don’t even pick up calls or respond to texts, and this is profoundly troubling. It is corroding the very fabric of our politics today,” he observed.
He charged the party leadership and its influential figures to prioritize the transformation of the lives of young cadres at the base, stressing that their loyalty and mobilization will be indispensable in future electoral contests.
“The party will always need the grassroots in the coming elections. It is therefore imperative we invest in them now,” he urged.
