The Ghana Scholarships Authority has declared the commencement of applications for its Local Tertiary Scholarship Scheme for the 2026/2027 academic year, a strategic intervention designed to underwrite the education of “academically gifted but financially challenged Ghanaian students who have secured admission into accredited tertiary institutions within the country.”
In an official communiqué signed by Director-General Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei and released on Monday, April 20, the Authority confirmed that the application portal was activated on Monday, 20th April 2026 and will be deactivated on Wednesday, 20th May 2026. It issued a firm caveat that “late submissions will not be accepted.”
Prospective beneficiaries are mandated to submit applications exclusively via the official scholarship portal at http://www.apply.scholarships.gov.gh. The Authority emphasized that applicants must “fill out the application form and upload all necessary supporting documents as part of the process.”
Post-submission, the selection architecture will be rigorous. “Shortlisted candidates will undergo an aptitude test and a selection interview as part of the assessment process,” the statement read.
The Authority further implored applicants to exercise diligence, noting that “applicants have been encouraged to ensure that all information provided during the application process is accurate and complete in order to avoid disqualification.”
For clarifications and assistance, the public may reach the Ghana Scholarships Authority via email at Apply@scholarships.gov.gh or through its hotlines: 0302907051 and 0302907058.
