The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has declared the opening of a Book of Condolence to honor the late Mr. Edward Elorm Kobla Desewu, a well-respected media professional and former executive member of the Association.

In a statement released on December 29, 2025, PRINPAG expressed profound sadness over Mr. Desewu’s death, calling him a significant figure in Ghana’s media community whose influence will last for generations.

Mr. Desewu passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, after a brief stay at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital). He was the Founder and Managing Editor of The Economy Times Newspaper. Additionally, he held the position of Secretary of PRINPAG and represented the Association on the National Media Commission (NMC), where he made important contributions to media governance and professionalism.

With more than twenty years of dedicated service in journalism, Mr. Desewu was especially recognized for his dedication to financial literacy, economic reporting, and industrial communication to support national development. PRINPAG highlighted that his enthusiasm, integrity, and selfless commitment to his work earned him great respect within and outside the media sector.

To honor his legacy, PRINPAG will open a Book of Condolence at its National Secretariat in Kokomlemle, next to the Movie House Plaza. The Book will be available to members, colleagues, and sympathizers from Tuesday, December 30, 2025, to Thursday, January 1, 2026, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.

The Association has urged all members to take part in this initiative as a sign of solidarity and respect for the late journalist, whom they referred to as a “giant” in the field.

PRINPAG also appealed to media professionals and the general public to keep the grieving family in their thoughts and to provide support during this time of mourning. The Association stated that details regarding the funeral arrangements will be shared in due time.
