On Wednesday, a team from the National Anti Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) conducted a significant raid on illegal mining operations at the COCOBOD Demonstration Farm – Section E in Bunso, located in the Eastern Region.
During the operation, the Taskforce discovered eight excavators and 12 illegal miners at work on the site.
NAIMOS had previously visited the demonstration farm twice to prevent illegal miners from damaging the research farm, but the miners returned to the same area just a week later.
The illegal miners were arrested and transferred to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and prosecution.
The seized excavators have been taken to the NAIMOS equipment base in Accra.
