North Tongu Member of Parliament and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has congratulated newly elected constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in North Tongu following the party’s nationwide internal elections.
Mr Ablakwa urged the newly elected executives to remain united and work towards securing further electoral victories for the party.
He also extended his congratulations to the entire NDC fraternity across the country, describing the party as the ultimate winner of the internal electoral exercise.
“The NDC is the true winner,” he wrote on X.
Meanwhile, the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on aspirants and members to accept the election results and work together to strengthen unity within the NDC.
Speaking at the Ketu North Constituency Delegates Conference at Weta in the Volta Region on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Mr Asiedu Nketiah explained that he had deliberately stayed away from constituency election activities nationwide to avoid influencing delegates’ choices or creating the impression that he favoured particular candidates.
He said his position as National Chairman required him to remain neutral to enable him to reconcile members and unite the party after the elections, regardless of the outcome.
“Everybody in the NDC is my friend and family member. If I select some of you and call you my friends, it means the others are my enemies, but I believe all of you are my friends,” he said.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah urged unsuccessful aspirants not to regard their defeat as a rejection by the party, explaining that only one person could occupy a particular executive position at a time.
He encouraged those who lost to remain committed to the NDC, noting that they could have opportunities to serve the party in other capacities in the future.
The NDC chairman also urged delegates to support the emergence of suitable candidates and appealed to all aspirants to accept the results in good faith.
“What matters is not who wins, but how that person wins and how we are able to put the party together after the election,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that the party would emerge stronger from the internal elections if members put aside their differences and worked collectively towards its common goals.
The messages from Mr Ablakwa and Mr Asiedu Nketiah highlight calls for unity and reconciliation following the NDC’s nationwide constituency elections, which saw new executives elected in several constituencies while some incumbents retained their positions.
