The obituary that suddenly emerged from the supposed family of Barbara Asantewaa Koduah, after she was unmasked as the incognito TikTok troll and opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) operative behind false claims of a coup in Ghana, continues to fracture under scrutiny as fake.
The latest revelation is that the obituary was digitally generated online using an Artificial Intelligence platform. The deconstruction was done by another AI platform, ChatGPT.
Ghanaians who ran the obituary through ChatGPT reported that it contains a real photograph of Koduah, but the surrounding template was generated on another AI platform only a week ago. The obituary claims Koduah, now 40, died three years ago at 37. The fact that the circulating notice was assembled just a week ago confirms it is deliberately faked, according to the checks.
The macabre fakery was apparently championed by members of the opposition NPP, who have been identified by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service as secret sponsors of Ghana Jollof.
Koduah, a gutter-mouthed troll, uses a TikTok account to spew disparagement without showing her face. Her defamatory publications at one point shifted from libellous to pure criminality when she alleged there had been a coup at Jubilee House, the seat of government.
Unbeknownst to her, while she was slinging mud on TikTok, National Security was digging into her. Last week, the Police CID announced it had finally traced Ghana Jollof, outing her as Barbara Asantewaa Koduah, a UK-domiciled Ghanaian nurse.
The outing showed she is a 40-year-old mother of three. She allegedly works with collaborators in Ghana, including Salomey Awity Baffoe, a colleague nurse based in the Bono Region, through whom Ghana Jollof receives money and information from notable persons suspected to be NPP big wigs to fund her nasty troll broadcasts.
Police are actively profiling the NPP big wigs secretly funding Ghana Jollof, The New Republic understands. Investigators are on course to outline how they funnelled funds to her as part of a criminal case the State is preparing for court.
The revelation has since pressed the panic button for the NPP. In what sources describe as a desperate move, the party put out the fake obituary, supposedly from Ghana Jollof’s family, indicating she died at 37 in 2023. That obituary has now been deconstructed as AI-generated fakery.
Amid the expose, there are rumours that Ghana Jollof’s sponsors are now contemplating funding plastic surgery for her so she can evade arrest. The whispers arose when further evidence emerged that Ghana Jollof is truly Barbara Asantewaa Koduah, a Registered Adult Nurse in the UK where she is still domiciled.
According to information accompanied by registration details, she recently finished her registration process with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of the UK and was given her PIN number on 30 June 2026.
The allegations that she and her sponsors are contemplating plastic surgery for her have led to urgent calls on National Security to immediately pressure the UK government to repatriate her to Ghana to face justice. The New Republic could not independently verify the plastic surgery claim.
For the NPP, the affair is a growing reputational hazard. For the police, it is a test of whether an investigation can survive a fabricated death, an AI-generated paper trail and speculation of cosmetic surgery. For Koduah, the fake obituary may prove the opposite of its intended effect: rather than burying the story, it has ensured it will not die.
