Son of Former Defense Minister, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, has earned the honour of representing Ghana at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).

Yaw Omane Boamah, is a student of the Ghana International School (GIS) a popular and private school in Accra.

He was selected from over 600 students across 100+ schools, emerging among six national finalists alongside Qi Wang of Ghana International School.

Young Omane Boamah together with one other will also represent Ghana at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), with Qi Wang ranking second overall.

Dr Omane Boamah, a medical professional, tragically lost his life together with 7 other Ghanaians including his colleague Minister for Science and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who was also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tamale Central constituency.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) director of Elections and IT was the Minister for Defence until his death.

The eight lost their lives through a helicopter crash while on their way to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region in August 2025, to launch an initiative on responsible small-scale mining.
