The National Council of Zongo Chiefs on June 11, undertook a high-profile courtesy call on His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama to formally extend felicitations on his recent electoral triumph.
Receiving the venerable delegation at the Jubilee House on the President’s behalf, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah stood in for President Mahama, who was detailed by pressing matters of state. The audience underscored the NDC administration’s reverence for traditional authority and its commitment to inclusive governance.
The delegation was accorded a warm reception by Alhaji Babalami Abu Sadat, Presidential Coordinator for Inner City and Zongo Development.
In his opening address, Alhaji Sadat conveyed profound appreciation to the revered traditional leaders, noting that their presence “fortifies the enduring covenant between government and Zongo communities nationwide.” He reaffirmed the administration’s “unwavering resolve to engender development that leaves no community behind.”

On the white eyes of the ceremonial goodwill, the Council seized the platform to present a memorandum articulating critical national concerns demanding urgent state intervention. While the full petition remains confidential to the Council’s leadership, sources privy to the engagement reveal its core thrusts:
- Infrastructure Renewal: Expedited delivery of roads, drainage systems, and essential social amenities within inner-city enclaves.
- Education & Youth Empowerment: Fortified educational scaffolding and sustainable employment architectures for Zongo youth.
- Peace & Security: Proactive frameworks to preserve social cohesion and neutralize nascent security threats.
Responding with measured gravitas, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah lauded the Council for its “prescient leadership, erudite counsel, and proactive stewardship of national progress.”

“The government regards Zongo communities not merely as electoral constituencies, but as indispensable pillars in Ghana’s socio-economic edifice. Every concern articulated here shall be transmitted directly to the desk of His Excellency President Mahama, and you may rest assured that strategic, deliberate action will follow,” the Chief of Staff declared.
The deliberations culminated in an exchange of cordialities and commemorative photographs, a symbolic reaffirmation of partnership between the executive arm of state and traditional custodians, united in the pursuit of transformative community development.
