The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) is set to commence the refining of Ghana’s crude as part of broader effort to get the state-owned company fully functional.
President John Dramani, who is leading a high powered government delegation to the United Kingdom (UK) said this when he met the Ghanaian diaspora community in London.
According to the President, the refining will start this month, June. He said the Refinery will officially be presented with a parcel of Ghana’s crude from the oil fields to process.
“We are about to start refining our own crude, and so in June, we are delivery a parcel of Ghanaian crude from our own oil fields to the Tema Oil Refinery to process”, he told the gathering.
The President while campaigning in 2024, promised to revive TOR through private participation. The Refinery under his watch has been revived and operating making profits and so on.
The news of it refining the local crude comes has come as great relief to many Ghanaians. Ghana presently refines it crude abroad and imports fuel for local consumption using private companies.
The Town Hall meeting forms part of the Ghana-UK Investment Summit, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations, deepening economic cooperation, and attracting strategic investment to Ghana.
