The Somé Traditional Council is expected to officially launch the 2026 edition of the (Sométutuza) Festival, marking the beginning of activities for one of the most significant annual cultural celebrations in the Somé Traditional Area of the Ketu South Municipality in the Volta Region.

The launch scheduled for Wednesday, July 22 at Adafienu -Batekorme is anticipated to bring together traditional leaders, queen mothers, government officials, members of the Somé diaspora, and residents to unveil the theme and programme of activities for the festival. The event, focused on Education, Water, Health and Sanitation, will also serve as a platform to rally support for development initiatives within the traditional area.

Sométutuza commemorates the historic migration and settlement of the ancestors of the Somé people and promotes peace, unity, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development.

In recent years, the festival has been used to advocate for improved infrastructure, education, healthcare, and investment in the area.

The Paramount Chief and President of the Somé Traditional Council, Torgbiga Adamah III, is expected to call on citizens at home and abroad to actively participate in the celebration and contribute to the development of the traditional area, continuing the council’s emphasis on unity and collective progress.

The official launch is expected to provide details of the festival calendar, including cultural displays, traditional rites, educational activities, health outreach programmes, sporting events, and the grand durbar of chiefs and people on the last Saturday of September, 2026.

The festival’s Central Planning Committee is therefore appealing to all citizens of Somé and development partners, home and abroad to support this years festival to help the Traditional Council achieve it’s developmental goals as it anticipates a thrilling and memorable festival ahead.
